Painted floors

I had resolved not to touch the main living area floors in this house.  They are terracotta, pretty ugly, and they scream "take me back to the 1990s" - even though the house is less than 10 years old.

But the cost of replacing them just doesn't stack up.  I had briefly thought about painting them but decided it was all too hard and could look cheap and scruffy - until I saw this story in the latest Real Living mag:

Real Living

Jet black painted (terracotta) floor tiles.  They look great, although I'm still a but unconvinced how well they'd wear.  Painted floors are always tricky.  And I haven't even started painting the kitchen yet.  What would you do?

I saw that in Real Living and thought the same thing. Our tiles are white but the house was built around 1988 ao they are very scuffed and scratched and a couple have cracks - Im hoping to talk to someone in a paint shop and see what they think - might be worth a temporary fix anyway (I call temporary a few years!!). I thought it was odd to have black floors in a beach house. Will be watching your blog to see if you give it a go

Hi Shangri La - I definitely think I'm going to go ahead with it - the more I look at the floors, the more I want to change them! I'll let you know how I go and what the result is! Tnaks for popping by x

I guess painting your floor is one option to bring it to life. You would just have to choose the right color and the perfect designs (if you are planning to use one for your flooring Honolulu project). Thank you for this post.
